It seems during all the Art Basel madness, I totally missed a United Nude pop up shop opening in the design district. I’m surprised that none of my other fashion friends mentioned it either. For those unfamiliar with United Nude, get familiar. A perfect mix of design and fashion, for me their shoes evoke feelings of clean architecture, stylized furniture and the sickest of interior design. Of course the reference to architecture makes sense since the line was created by a Dutch architect Rem D Koolhaas and English shoemaker Galahad Clark. They recently collaborated with Iris van Herpen creating a crazy tall limited edition ankle bootie, if you follow me on twitter you know their latest Iris design is even sicker. Matt who is a graphic designer really likes how unique each shoe is from all others. Here are some of our favorites.
The Miami pop up opened during one of the biggest art events in the world, it perfectly combines retail and art. The gallery contains photographs from famous and emerging artists in China. The project entitled 5PRCITY was initiated by United Nude and has a simple theme: Women & City-Life. Photos are from 5 major urban areas: Shanghai, Beijin, Gungzhou, Hong Kong and Chengdu. The pop up has already extended it’s stay and I hope that’s a sign that soon there will be a permanent fixture for United Nude in Miami.
I can’t wait to visit the shop this week and check out all the art in person and of course the shoes.

Generally, I’m a stodgy “only fashion designers should design clothes/shoes/accessories,” but these shoes make me eat my words. I think the the architectural element in these shoes will make the brand really popular. Plus, I’m a sucker for interesting heels, and these heels are beyond interesting!
