I will forever cherish my time at Jumeirah Dhevanafushi, my dream Maldivian getaway 30 miles north of the equator. While we stayed in one of the 16 over water villas a half-mile offshore, we found ourselves on the main island quite a bit. Enjoying the powdery white sand on the main island’s beaches was a must.
We would essentially start the day with breakfast at Johara (we found Azara to serve better breakfast but it was much easier to start the day on our island), then head back to our room for our things for a day at the beach. After readying ourselves, we’d hop on the boat to the main island and park ourselves for the day. Lunch was served poolside or we could dine in at Azara. Since all the dining on the islands are open (no enclosed areas), we’d have to do battle with flies often for our food.
Snorkeling with Yanique in the Indian Ocean is up there on the list of coolest things I’ve ever done…EVER. We took pictures with our underwater cameras. I still haven’t developed them, that will be a whole other treat when I finally get around to it. We snorkeled at the beach and at our villa to compare the two. I preferred just hopping right off the pier at our villa into the ocean as opposed to starting off at the shore. At the end of the day, we’d hop back on the boat to head back to our villa to prepare ourselves for our dinner reservation we’d end up being late for. Ha, I don’t think we were on time one time. In our defense: 4 girls, 2 bathrooms and island time.
