People have frequently asked me what fashion means to me and I always say it’s a way for me to express myself. To me that is my art. As much as I’d love to be an illustrator, sculptor etc, that simply isn’t my talent. I can however put a look together and tell a story through my fashion. Fashion to me is art, it is ever changing it is growing as you grow, changing as you change…etc. It can inspire, it can be uplifting.
?As a stylist I’m often called on to create an image for my subjects. I start with a clean palette and add inspiration. I go for colors, textures and images that evoke within me the theme we are going for. As with my model below McKenna in two different shoots we struck two completely different feelings.
Rap artist Nicki Minaj culitivated her many personas based on her appearance. She started of as Nicki Miraj, which evolved to Nicki Minaj the Harajuku Barbie. With a few changes in the way she presented her image to the world that alone put her on the map and allowed a broader audience to experience her talents. She’s now a crossed the threshold of hip hop artist to pop artist as well and with an actual Barbie under her belt we now know we can always expect to see something interesting from Minaj, whether it be her hair color to the porprotions she plays with in her outfits or the bars she delivers on her songs.
For me when I work on a shoot, it is as important and creative to me as an illustrator putting pen to paper.

Wonderful Read! I enjoyed reading this with a stylist perspective on fashion and how they evoke different emotions, feelings and themes through their subjects :)
Thank you! I hope that you’ll take a look at the videos of the other artists and their perspectives on ORGNL.TV. Maybe you’d even like to submit your own work or nominate someone you know.
We have very different styles you and I but we see fashion in the same way. That’s the magic of it, fashion is such a wonderful way to express yourself. I am an artist who paint both on canvas and digitally and I’m an artist who use myself as a canvas for self-expression. I love putting together an outfit thinking about every little detail, from the clothes to the matching of accessories to the styling of my hair.
Thanks so much for reading my post, you totally get it! <3
Really great hearing what fashion means to you, and how you’ve expressed that through your styling!
