As someone who is often described as edgy, I’m no stranger to studs. Yet recently I have been a stranger to studs, an obvious signifier of an “edgy style”. Subtlety is key for me these days, I still love and live to do the most, but in a lowkey way. Grommets are my new studs. These metallic accoutrements are anything but new but they’re having a moment this Spring.
Edgy dressing isn’t for everyone but everyone can dabble a bit with grommets or metal eyelets. It’s a fun and easy way to add a little edge to your ensemble. High fashion brands and fast fashion retailers are all jumping on board with this trend. Makes it so easy to find something cool at just about any price point. You can commit to a full on all over grommet or one strategically placed, there’s no end to the variety.
I fell in love with this Missguided Silver Eyelet A Line Mini Skirt with it’s 60s vibe and $20 price point. I was going for a full Missguided ensemble so I poked around the site and found the Eyelet Bodysuit. It’s super sexy, love the placement of the grommets and the double strap high neck line. You can’t see the back in these shots, (blame the photographer) but it’s killer. With the top and the skirt, I was set on metal eyelets. I picked out the Patent Ankle Boots with the Perspex Heel to keep my dramatic 60s aesthetic strong. I want this boot in every color, so damn cool. Dior inspired and I’ll take it.
Below you can shop my look AND some other cool pieces featuring the eyelet / grommet trend. You’re welcome.
