Obsessed doesn’t even cut it on this throwback 90s silk slip dress look. Silk slip dresses have been on my mind for some time now. Erika Hanna of Jaest Studios reached out to me about helping promote her new line of elevated basics. She’s already hit her Kickstarter goal and has 7 days left to go in the campaign. I’m not surprised, the clothes are great but the passion Erika has for her line is even better.

How do you wear a silk slip dress? It’s actually quite a versatile piece. If you’re not feeling the lingerie as outerwear vibe, pair it with a contrasting colored tee. This makes for an elevated daytime look. I had to run to a dinner, right after shooting this look, so I just slipped the tee off and dashed out the door. Received quite a few oohs and ahhhs as I slipped into my seat. With all the attention on my dress, no one much minded me being fashionably late.
I’ve worn this dress with a variety of footwear since then. The over-the-knee boot is definitely my favorite pairing. My second favorite being a pair of wait for it…white sneakers. No one is surprised. I’m lowkey predictable at this point. Don’t judge, we all have our favorite go-to things.
My friend Monet did my makeup for another shoot I was working on earlier in the day. I’d also gotten my hair done at 1821 salon in Miami Beach so I was all around feeling myself. I rushed home as soon as that shoot wrapped and harassed Alex to shoot me as soon as he got to my place. Couldn’t let all the effort everyone put in go to waste ya know!
Below I’ve picked out some of my favorite slip dress options available now. Varying price points and a few boot options as well. A little something to hold us over while we wait for Jaest to go into production.
