California Dreamin’
I’m finally getting around to posting the editorial I did for Your Beauty Industry magazine back in April and the magazine came out in August. I love styling for magazines but I hate the wait for images.
I pulled clothing from KrelWear, Filthy Magic, Ema Savahl and my own closet of course. Jewelry was all provided by Charles Albert who I’ve worked with several times. Their pieces always put the perfect finishing touches on an outfit. McKenna wanted the Ema Savahl dress she wore in the 2nd row of images (middle shot), I think she almost had her mom convinced to purchase it for her for prom.
I took some behind the scenes photos in the early stages of the shoot before I started running around like a mad woman. I wish I’d gotten shots of all of the outfits. I just have skeleton photos for reference and those aren’t any fun.

Bonus photo: A iPhone 3GS picture collage
I loved working with photographer Elise Donoghue, makeup artist Debra Macki, and hair stylist Johnny Diol. We had a lot of fun shooting. The other shoot I did for YBI isn’t out yet so I’m still looking forward to seeing how those images turned out.

Lounging InStyle
Filthy Magic Colored Collar Blouse
Cheap Monday Bonnie Skirt (similar. similar)
Joe’s Jeans Brenda Wedge (nude leather)
Filthy Magic Choker Necklace & cuff (similar)
At first I hated these photos, but now I like them. Christine thinks they’re the best photos of us from NYFW. Thanks to Sabla for taking them for us. I spotted the InStyle magazine across the street when I was at Lincoln Center for shows. This was a private lounge unlike the Allure or Teen Vogue lounges and I wasn’t on the list. However, I gave the girl at the front desk my card and she allowed the three of us to go up and enjoy.
It was hands down the nicest lounge out of the other magazines. Not counting Elle because I forgot to put it in my schedule (oops). Anyway, InStyle had an open bar, a food spread, computers, comfortable sofas, lots of room (unlike Allure), and of course the latest InStyle with Beyonce on the cover. It was quiet, unlike Teen Vogue. The computers weren’t packed unlike the press area at the tents, it was just pure bliss. Of course I wanted to return since our arrival was only about 40 minutes before they closed for the day.
Well, Christine and I had a break in between events and stopped by again and was told that there was a private event going on so that was a bummer but completely understandable. On the last day of shows for me we had another break and tried to go back again and unfortunately we weren’t allowed to return. The girl at the check in was actually quite rude about it which is where I had the problem. I think I tweeted or something about her attitude and then that night I got an email inviting me to the lounge. Sigh. Late but I guess appreciated.

Teen Vogue Haute Spot
This NYFW post is brought to you by the “mayor” (foursquare, baby!) of the Teen Vogue Haute Spot at Lincoln Center. Just a few steps away from the tents, Teen Vogue had a little place for me to drop by daily and hang. I made a few friends there as well, I also met a lot of Teen Vogue employees like Eva Chen who was just sweeter than you could ever expect.
I just wanted to say a quick hello, but she actually started asking me questions and interacting with me. I’m shy so I was kinda like omg do I flee haha.
Maybelline was on hand to do complimentary make up. Got to try some things I had my eye on.
BDG mens tee
Filthy Magic shoulder & neck chain

Highlight: I got to meet up with one of my favorite internet friends…ya know Fashion Pirate
Still got more to come…like posts about shows I attended.

Fabb Fashion Week
So where have I been right? Well, I’ve been in New York since last Tuesday. I flew in for LuckyFabb and Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. It’s been a crazy whirlwind of events and shows. I didn’t pack my laptop so I haven’t been able to blog. I’ve been doing so much though, it’s been an amazing experience made even better that I get to do it with my best friend who came in from Maryland to hang out with me.
Following me on twitter/instagram are the best ways to keep up with me when I’m on the go. My username is riamichelle on both accounts. I fly home today, in fact I’m currently packing. It’ll be good to get back to the land of not spending money every time I leave the house but I will miss being able to go anywhere I want via the subway. New York City really gives me an unstoppable feeling, like there’s nothing I can’t do. I’ll be back in February.
Quick shots from my instagram. 1 + 2. Lunch at Goodness Badness pop up restaurant by Elettra Wiedemann. It’s across the street from the Lincoln center. Details to come, but you can totally go check it out now if you’re looking for breakfast or lunch in the area. 3. Brandon Holley of Lucky magazine introducing Diane von Furstenberg. 4. Urban Decay pizza cart feeding stylish citizens with cold drinks and makeup themed personal pies. 5. Concept Korea presentation. 6. Eletrra chatting with us over coffee at Goodness Badness.

My Life: Magic & Blogging

Brink magazine Beauty Editor Michelle Cameau & Me
Been wanting to post these pictures for a bit now, but they were for a magazine so I had to wait for the magazine to come out. I hate the waiting game since I’m so impatient. My makeup looks so lovely, thanks so much Michelle. You may kind of remember this look from the headshot photos I posted a few weeks ago. I self took those photos though, these are professional.Taken by Garett Frandsen who I wish lived here instead of Orlando/being a wandering photographer. I kinda loved him, and would love to work with him behind the camera instead of in front of it.

I’ve been published in Brink magazine before but as a stylist. So it was my work but never me. I wanna send this to my grandma in Trinidad because I know she’ll be super proud of me. We shot the feature in my condo here in South Florida. Peep my piggy banks behind me from Target. I really love my home, so it’s kinda cool to see it in print. I should of cleaned up the area a bit though, I didn’t know we’d shoot there. Oh and if you’re wondering why I’m barefoot, it’s because I have white carpet and observe the no shoes in my house rule. Like I will kill you.
A shot of me in my office, definitely the messiest room in the house…because I’m messy and this is my space. Oops. Behind me you can see a bit of a clothing rack that houses clothing & samples for www.filthymagic.com as well as items I need/would like to shoot on my blog. If I keep them in my closet, I’ll definitely forget. RIP to that Jewel Mint blue & white seed bracelet. This was the first piece of Jewel Mint I had a problem with. Incredibly disappointed since it was the first time I wore it and then it broke that night.

H&M crochet beanie
Zara graphic tee
Filthy Magic flower frinted maxi skirt
What do you think of my outtakes? Do you think they picked the best shot to use for the magazine? That’s the only reason I posted so many of the photos.
