BtS: Levi’s x Ria Michelle This Is Who I Am

I feel like I’m sort of being annoying with all this video content…but ya know this is what I’ve been doing. A few months ago I filmed a project with Fabsugar and Levi’s. If you watch the video on their site you can peek into my office space. It really made me think about blogging and everything that I do and how much it means to be. I really hope that you enjoy the video I think Gio my director and our whole team did an amazing job. It was my first time working with video like this and the experience couldn’t have been a better one. I learned so much and had lots of laughs. I hope that one day we can all work together again. We shot the shoot over 2 days or maybe 3…thinking 2. I want to give Holly Gowers my makeup artist and friend lots of thanks for doing my makeup on day 2. She is a boss at what she does and just moved to New York and is killing it!

We ended up on a boat of course! The gingham checkered red dress is perfection by the way, you need it in your closet. It seems sold out on the website but I know you can still find it in stores. Also…I need this coated jumper! Seems so perfect for fall. I’m gonna need to find it in store. Wah. I’m such an online shopper.

Shooting for Nicole Richie x Macy’s Impulse

Oh hey, check me out in my messy office blogging it up. My last post I mentioned a project I was filming on Friday…well Friday turned into Saturday due to airlines not wanting to fly through storms and all that. So Saturday bright an early Macy’s took over my apartment for a little bit. We’re filming a little video for Nicole Richie’s capsule collection for Macy’s Impulse…ya know no big deal. I feel so lucky to have been chosen to partner with Nicole and Macy’s. I can’t wait for you guys to see the collection, it’s really cute and you’re definitely gonna wanna have a few of these pieces in your closet.

Jane the makeup artist packed up her kit, Mike and Chris the camera guys packed their equipment, and me I grabbed my tools of the trade; lots of clothes and accessories of course. We then headed to Touch Boutique in the Mimo District of Miami. I love this place, the decor is so cute and the owner Cynthia is a sweetheart. Thanks so much to her for letting us invade the store for a bit. Of course I bought something, couldn’t help myself.

We rounded out the day at Panther Coffee in the design district (thank you Joel!!), Ocean Drive, and of courseeeeee my favorite The Standard! I’m so happy my good friend Lily of Le Pretty Stellar came to have a drink with me so she’ll be in the video too. So many thanks to Amanda for letting us film at The Standard since it’s always the first place I think of when someone asks me for my favorite spots in Miami.

I’m not big on doing instagram only posts (so forgive me) but it’s really all I had time for running around doing outfit changes and trying to keep on schedule. I had a wonderful time and I absolutely loved my crew. Mike from Swell NY is the best and has such a positive energy, he was a pleasure to work with. I can’t wait to reveal the looks and the video to you guys, all this hush hush is driving me crazzzyyy.

This is a sponsored post but all opinions & fun had are obviously my own.

Ria Michelle x PLNDR

I’m sure you guys all know about Karmaloop, it’s one of the best places to shop online because of their amazing prices and coupon codes. Karmaloop also has a sample sale website called PLNDR. It’s members-only of course (need an invite). The sales are between 48 and 72 hours long with prices of up to 80% off. They have brands like Mink Pink, RVCA, Cheap Monday, Motel…you know the good stuff.

They asked me to take a peek through their inventory and pick my favorite pieces for my very own sale. So if you like my style, take a look at my picks before the sale is over!

Make My Day

More fun in the Jeffrey Campbell Clinic’s from my previous post. Ventured outside in my neighborhood, something I never do. I generally only leave my house for errands and to head to Miami. That’s kind of terrible should get out more. These photos (taken back in October) are very green due to the way I had the camera set and the way the sun was coming through the trees. I know so much more now yay! I almost always shoot on manual. My dress could using a steaming huh? It’s so wrinkled from wearing it all day/running errands, because that’s what I was doing when we decided to pause and take pictures in the courtyard.

Been kind of down these past few days, guessing the stress of the holidays but emails from readers and various companies have been making me smile. Including this feature on the front page of Miami.com. You may have seen it already if you follow me on twitter. Read the interview, if you like and tell me what you think! Thank you to Maria Tettamanti for taking my pic and interviewing me.

Manish Arora x Nespresso Runway Show

So completely last minute (Monday, November 29 2010) I found out that fashion designer Manish Arora collaborated with Nespresso and they were hosting a runway fashion show that night. I absolutely love coffee and I love good design, this would be perfect for me. So of course I grabbed my camera and high tailed it to Lincoln Road Mall to the Nespresso boutique to see the runway show. Luckily I was able to get into the event (thank you to everyone that made that happen).  I walked into the boutique (I’d never been) and the boutique itself is so aesthetically pleasing. I could totally kill a day there no problem and in fact plan to visit very soon to try out the two Nespresso Grand Crus that I acquired.

Nespresso will be doing an annual collaboration with designers called N-Art. Distinctive design is a strong point for the Nespresso brand so to mix art and design is simply natural. The designers will be showcasing their interpretation of the brand. Manish Arora is the first designer that was chosen. The selected artists and designers will be creating window displays, and limited edition products. Can I just say I was so sad I wasn’t eligible for the giveaway of the limited edition espresso machine. Total heartbreak. I’ve been on the hunt for an espresso machine and no other will compare now to the Manish Arora design. In any case, I absolutely cannot wait to find out who will be the next artist.

Manish has a very avant-garde style as you can see in the photos in the gallery (also on my Flickr account you’ll see the backs of the dress and detail shots) below. He makes great use of embroidery, bold colors and unique materials. For Nespresso, Manish created a fairy tale populated by 16 princesses to represent the 16 Nespresso Grand Crus of course. Each princess (model) had a strong and unique story coming down the runway (as told by emcee Amanda Harris). This may have been my favorite show that I’ve seen in Miami yet. Actually no it definitely has been my favorite show I’ve seen since moving here. Very well done and exciting. If you have a local Nespresso Boutiques definitely make your way there because through January 2011 Manish Arora’s designs will be on display and they are so beautiful. I promise it’ll be a real treat.

Final walkthrough video, had a little camera fumble moment haha. I really need to practice messing with the video functions so I can do quick switches better. I always press the capture button instead of the start/stop button which results in a stutter in my video. In any case, I know I love to see things in motion so enjoy. :(
