Feeling So Free

A few months ago I had a back to back opportunity to work with fashion photographer Shamayim. The first shoot I blogged about but I never got around to editing the pictures and video from the second since I took so many. I still haven’t touched the video but I finally narrowed down the pictures for posting. The makeup artist for this shoot was Nikki Oxley who was so awesome. Not only is she a killer makeup artist, she’s also English so I got to hear her delightful accent for the entire shoot. I love accents.

We were shooting for new clothing line Zemen. Zemen was created by designer Rahel Bekele and is a modern take on traditional Ethiopian garments. Everything is handmade with amazing materials. When the line launches on 11.11.11 a portion of the proceeds will go towards organizations that micro-finance small loans to underprivileged women in Africa. Their website hasn’t launched yet, but you can of course check Zemen out on facebook to stay in the loop.

Whenever I style, I like to take photos for the blog to share with you guys. I took A LOT this shoot. I was kind of snap happy. So I narrowed it down. I really wanted to steal one of these dresses for myself. I can’t wait for the launch, they are absolutely amazing.

The photographer sent me a zip file of images I haven’t even gotten a chance to look at from both shoots so you may still see final images from this shoot pop up in my portfolio in the future. Oh and the model, it’s the fabulous Brittany DePriest. I’ve seen this girl come up so many times for shoots and either the shoot didn’t pan out or we went with a different model etc. I was really glad to finally get a opportunity to work with her. I really like her a lot personally and professionally. She was great. She’s all over target and Seventeen magazine too. Go Brittany! She’s signed with NEXT for anyone curious.

The second photo is a random shot I took with an extra piece of garment we were playing with. I should have pinned it in place but whatever we went with it.

A girl on the beach wanted to take a picture with Brittany :)

Brand Spotlight: Cut25

Oh hi Fall/Winter 2010 Cut25, please get in my closet.  Cut25 is Yigal Azrouël’s diffusion (are people still using that word) line. Luxury at an attainable price, I’m down. I’d like to think of the pieces as high fashion basics. All the same silhouettes you know and love from the main line at a lower price point with almost every piece less than $500. I love the leather gloves and their jackets. On Twitter they’ve been talking about the sample sale they recently had, to say that I’m cursing not living in NYC anymore would be an understatement. I would of definitely snagged myself some Cut25 outerwear and maybe if I was really lucky a Yigal piece.

Above you can see my favorites from the Resort 2011 collection. More must have outerwear with absolutely perfect bottoms. My favorites being the sequin shorts. The printed drop crotch pants seem to have a little sequin action happening as well which only add to their awesomeness.

Zara June 2010

By Ria  //  High Street, Lookbook  //  1 Comment

Kind of unimpressed with Zara’s June 2010 lookbook.

1. That hairstyle is my signature, I’ve washed my hair and this is the best I can do look lately. If only it was thick enough to make my bun that full. Love the pants.

2. Think they had a poncho/dress thing last month too that I wanted. Still haven’t gotten a chance to stop by and see if they have it. I can’t even believe I want a poncho, how I’ve changed….I don’t know I see it as more of a dress.

I’m glad to know I’m not the only one that has trouble finding the pieces from the lookbooks in store. The Zara iPhone app has helped me out though to have the associates find some of the things I’m looking for.

Zara to the rescue

By Ria  //  High Street, Lookbook  //  3 Comments

When I saw Miroslava Duma in these Chloe leather shorts I thought damn those are amazing. I need shorts like these in my closet and killer heels to wear with them. Well Zara as always gets it. They posted these images on their facebook Spring 2010.

I love the colors, I love the shorts. I really hope the Zara’s here get these pieces. My wardrobe really needs an update. I’ve been ridiculously uninspired lately as I feel I’ve worn everything I have way too many times and I don’t have anything that matches my style anymore. It’s a pain to get dressed everyday, I change at least 5 times before I leave the house. Used to be I went into it pretty much with an idea of what I wanted to look like on any given day. End of my mini rant.

I’m also a big fan of Zara collections. These three images are from the TRF SS2010 lookbook. Can’t wait til I can actually go shopping again. Right now is not a good time but I’m eagerly awaiting spring.

My Jimmy Choo x H&M shopping list

Back in June I mentioned Jimmy Choo was doing a collaboration with H&M. Since then there have been numerous previews of the collection and finally a lookbook and a video on H&M’s official site. I’ve gathered a few of the things I’d definitely like to get my hands on assuming the only two H&M’s in my state even get the collection.

These two looks incorporate some of my favorite pieces.

Only 6 pieces, not to bad right haha. Only 4 of which are must haves for me. Of course I didn’t even highlight the accessories. What do you think, is there anything I didn’t list here that you’re absolutely dying for.

GIVEAWAY REMINDER: Also if you haven’t already signed up for my BCBGirls shoe giveaway. Make sure you check it out.
