Upward & Onward

I am no longer with Miami Fashion Blog. The lack of a car after my accident definitely contributed to my choice to resign among other things. I will continue to shoot streetstyle/people watching, but it will not be limited to Miami as I was with MFb and it will be posted here on the blog.

I love how appropriate this picture is for this post. I took it about a month ago after my shoot for Brink magazine. Dueces!

My makeup was done by my old colleague and friend Michelle Cameau. She’s also the beauty editor at Brink.

Mellow “come down” time for me usually means a date with my bedroom and my Skullycandy headphones.

Love the crazy light here (totally unedited), reminds me of the flawless lighting in this picture.

Leopard or Tiger, Who Even Knows…I Don’t…

Made a couple of changes to the site, one being the header. My animated me is now leopard clad which is extremely true to my daily life. She’s also got on a pretty smart white top, and I’ve really been digging white in my looks lately. Another (less noticeable) is bigger pictures. Try it click the picture above!

I don’t know what made me reach for white accessories with this dress, but I like it. I’ve also worn the look with all black accessories which I think is a bit more conventional.

These have got to be the most uncomfortable shoes I own, which is probably why I never wear them. They were about $140. I wear heels pretty much 24-7 but I can’t do discomfort. I can only wear these for about 1 hour. I’ve never bought another pair of Bebe heels ever since these in 2009. I’ve always wondered if the Stella McCartney’s ($995) they’re knocking off were uncomfortable too. I wanted them in black originally like the Stella’s though it sold out lightning fast. If I could actually wear these I’d have picked them up on eBay, I like the design so much.

This dress also has a pleated skirt. Basically perfection for me. I found this belt in the sale section at UO. I bought it in a medium so I could tie the belt that way. If I wasn’t wearing it so high up it wouldn’t be loose like that haha, I’m going to put another hole in it. Jewelry is an assortment of Chris Habana cuffs (as usual), vintage gifts from my bf’s mom, and Amrita Singh bangles.

P.S. - My neighborhood security thought it would be cool to park up his golf cart and watch me take these photos AND try to chat with me about what I was doing. I was terribly offended. I mean you see me running back and forth with my tripod/remote. Bro, help me out and offer to take the photos.

Ch-Ch-Ch Changes

Well it’s about time. I’ve been saying WITHERING-ROSE has been due for a redesign for quite some time now. I finally sat down today and did it after Amanda from Mandabear asked to exchange links. Thanks for the inspiration girl!

Anyway I’m gonna miss the model and the colorful garb but what can I say I love the little animated me much better. She’s unfinished…well for the website anyway. I pulled the version you see up there right now out of a illustrator (a program I should mention I do not know how to use) file Matt made my business cards from. On my business cards she doesn’t need another hand…so yeah I texted him tonight (he’s away on business in LA) and I’m like would you mind giving me a hand or you know putting something in it like a shoe a purse something. So I can’t wait till she’s perfect.

I also need to tweak the pages. The pages you see up there were not accessible via my other layout save for the contact page but now they’re all out there in the open for everyone to see so gotta fix em, update em, create them. I’ll be cleaning out my tags & categories as well.

I’ve been a bit m.i.a since oh around my birthday. My last post was about me working on my webstore which is what I’ve spent most of my time doing when I’m not at work. Let’s see if I can recap with a mini photo diary of sorts. Recently I’ve bought way to many pairs of shoes. It’s out of control.

Got these (Shrewsberry) at work for $44.35. They were originally $125 so with my discount they would have been $62.50. But they were marked down to $84.98 with an extra 30%. We have the option with sale shoes to either use our discount on the original price or use the given sale. Using the sale would have made them like $59.49 so if not for Black Friday I would have used the sale just because it doesn’t eat into my alloted discount budget. Well in rolls Black Friday and we all find out you get an extra extra 30% off. So that’s how I ended up spending $44.35 on $125 shoes. Woo for me. The leather is so nice too. I came home and was googling for a pic of it when I stumbled on these from Marc Jacobs.

Well don’t these look familiar. I dig the white contrast lacing and the lower heel would be better for work and to have a super cute casual sandal that still had a heel. What I don’t dig is the $550 price tag this had. It’s sold out now of course but I can’t help feeling like I came out ahead. Also thanks to Zahara who bought my Shrewsberry for me so I could get in on that discount because I forgot my wallet at home. Yes I forgot my wallet at home on Black Friday. I’m telling you it was probably for the best.

Launched my webstore Filthy Magic. I’m kind of crappy at marketing though I guess. I’m trying, though. I’ve put a lot of money and effort into this so I hope it works out cuz I’m not made of money and I could have bought shoes. lulz. I just want to bring people pretty clothes and run my own business again so I don’t have to work for anyone else. Plus you know it’s my dream to style everyone. Soon I hope to get more items in store but I can’t until I get more orders. I wanna have new arrivals by Christmas though so I might bite the bullet and use one of my paychecks that isn’t relegated to bills.

Then I got these. Another Aldo pair so discount for me!  The last shoe we don’t stock in my store because I work in an outlet and it’s too expensive. A customer happened to return them in my size and my Assistant Manager let me know so I could get first dibs. It never even made it to display. See we can’t use our discount at other Aldo’s hence the rabidness with which I snatched these up. There are tons of shoes we just never get so the only way for me to ever have them is to pay regular price and working for Aldo I just feel silly buying a shoe at the regular price. There’s a list of other shoes I want but since they’re not Aldo shoes I haven’t been able to buy them because they’re all $160+ and I don’t get a discount.

I have tons of other pictures to post (of real people even lol) but it’s been so long since I blogged and I don’t want there to be such a gap so I’ll say this is to be continued.

Filthy Magic

Here’s a sneak preview of the products I’ll be selling at the launch of my webstore. It’s all so lovely and I want to keep 1 of each for myself. I ended up keeping the “Black Rimmed Glasses Necklace” (starting small lol) and I get compliments on it everywhere I go. I feel like it’ll probably sell out quickly. Currently deciding on how I want to do the cart is kicking my butt. But here’s a look at some of the products I have.
